On Tuesday, the 20th April, Global Cannabis Application Corporation (CSE: $APP) becomes the first publicly listed company to have Abbey list their ERC-20 token on Uniswap.
Abbey create tokens tradeable on Uniswap for publicly listed companies from stock exchanges. The company benefits from this by introducing exposure of an Ether based currency to their books, while also having the ability to realise the potential increase in value of their token over time. How would this benefit a token holder? The big appeal is that once the quarterly reports of the company are published, 1% of the revenue made that quarter will be used to buy tokens back from the community. In this way, token holders will have a certain level of exposure to the company’s performance, without needing to head to centralised-exchanges, thus retaining the decentralised appeal and ease of Uniswap.
Another significant unique advantage would be how Abbey codes their smart contracts. Firstly, the smart contract is unable to mint new coins, thus keeping the total supply at a mere 200,000 coins, which will introduce an air of exclusivity throughout the holder community. Additionally, within the code is a restriction on the contract creator redeeming funds from the liquidity pool or selling tokens without a pre-released disclosure of intent. This brings a level of transparency and trust unrivalled in the crypto world.
